Lawn Bowls Competitions

Lawn bowls competitions can be played in teams of four, singles, pairs or triples.

Please bare in mind that scoring systems do vary for different bowling competitions as you will see by a few examples outlined below:

The winners of a competition are usually determined by whoever the highest scorer is after 18 or 21 ends or is decided upon the first player in a singles or pairs match to gain 21 points.

A "set play" is an alternative way of scoring within bowls,it is always best of five sets, and the team needs to reach seven points first to win the award of the set. Those who win 3 or more out of 5 of the sets, win the competition, and it's back to the club house for some well earned sandwiches and discussions on bowls tactics!
